Mawqut is an astronomical prayer timer, it bases on internal calculations and sunrise-sunset.org to get times as follows:
- Al-Fajr is calculated internally based on Hour Angle Equation where by default it takes the astronomical twilight angle 18 degrees (https://www.islamweb.net/en/fatwa/473398/the-time-of-the-fajr-morning-prayer), the user can adjust the degree from the settings screen.
- Al-Dhuhr is at the day noon, where on "Online" mode the day noon is retrieved from https://api.sunrise-sunset.org/ and on "Offline" mode the day noon is calculated internally based on Equation of Time (EoT).
- Al-Asr is calculated internally based on Hour Angle Equation where the solar zenith angle for Al-Hanafi school is when the length of the object’s shadow equals the length of the object’s shadow at the noon plus twice the object’s height, and for Al-Jumhur (other schools) is when the length of the object’s shadow equals the length of the object’s shadow at the noon plus the object's height.
- Al-Maghreb is at the sunset, where in "Online" mode the sunset is retrieved from https://api.sunrise-sunset.org/ and in "Offline" mode the sunset is calculated internally based on Hour Angle Equation where the solar zenith angle is 90ยฐ.
- Al-Ishaa is calculated internally based on Hour Angle Equation where by default it takes the astronomical twilight angle 18 degrees, the user can adjust the degree from the settings screen.
